Governors champion Interfaith America’s Faith in Elections Playbook, urge faith communities to safeguard democracy
Video highlights bipartisan support for free, fair and safe elections
CHICAGO — Interfaith America has released a video featuring Gov. Wes Moore of Maryland and Gov. Spencer Cox of Utah calling for religious communities to help make sure elections reflect the will of the people. The governors also endorsed Interfaith America’s Faith in Elections Playbook as a valuable resource for ensuring every valid vote is counted.
In a show of bipartisan collaboration, Moore, a Democrat, and Cox, a Republican, underscore the importance of promoting free, fair, and safe elections and bringing communities together across political divides. In the video, they highlight key strategies from Interfaith America’s playbook designed to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and encourage civic engagement among faith communities. Their endorsement serves as a powerful example of how leaders from different political backgrounds can come together to support a shared goal of a thriving democracy.
Despite deep divisions in our country, Interfaith America, a nonpartisan organization, views free and fair elections as an essential democratic principle that goes beyond partisanship. That is why the organization produced the Faith in Elections Playbook in partnership with Protect Democracy earlier this year. For examples of how communities have used the playbook, read about Faith in Elections Playbook grant recipients that have been working to safeguard democracy in an election season marked by chaos and division.

Interfaith America will also be releasing a podcast series in October with episodes highlighting remarkable stories of everyday community leaders from a variety of faith traditions working to build bridges across diverse communities and reshape the divisive narrative of election season.
