In this video I explored the abandoned ghost town of Parksville, New York with Exploring With Josh and Exploring With Danny. This place is like Silent Hill in real life, almost more than Centralia. Everyone that used to live here left and just vanished. There’s abandoned houses, churches, hotels, stores, businesses, and more here, and we explored it all.
Parksville was a prosperous railroad community in the 1800’s. The town had a perfectly positioned railroad system that allowed convenient travel to the popular Catskill resorts and ski areas. The town’s economy was booming due to all the tourism and flourished for many decades. But Parksville would eventually be abandoned due to the lack of tourism to the Catskill after the resorts themselves were abandoned. In addition to that, there was a change in the highway system that previously led visitors to the town in the first place. Since there was no longer a convenient way or even desire to travel to the lavish Catskill resorts, the town of Parksville hit an economic decline. Over time, the population shrunk drastically and has dwindled down to less than 100 people as of today.
