🛑 Exposing Hasidic Influence & Real Estate Fraud: The Case of Chaim Ben Dovid Bediner
Sullivan County, NY — What began as a decades-long commitment to a small Jewish bungalow colony has now become a legal and ethical battleground. Chaim Ben Dovid Bediner, also known as Dmitri Bediner, is a 60-year-old Jewish refugee, stroke survivor, and brain surgery patient who is fighting to protect the only major asset he has left — an 8-unit bungalow colony in South Fallsburg, NY.
In 2023, a court approved the sale of the property for $970,000. Bediner, legally entitled to a right of first refusal, was convinced by Rabbi Joshua Glassman to exercise that right. Glassman promised to help secure a mortgage for half of the total — approximately $485,000. Instead, Bediner was manipulated into a $560,000 hard-money mortgage at 15% interest-only payments, totaling $7,000 per month or $84,000 annually — on a property that earns at most $30,000 per year.
The lender: Glassman’s own company, Preferred Real Estate Management. The beneficiary: a shell entity called Dacha Luxe LLC, now claiming full ownership based on the intentionally unaffordable mortgage deal.
📍 The Property at Stake
Located at 446 Whitaker Road, South Fallsburg, NY, the bungalow colony was developed and maintained almost exclusively by Bediner for more than 25 years. By 2020, he was the sole active caretaker, handling repairs, construction, and tenant management.
⚖️ Legal Turbulence and Judicial Recusal
The court case, Dacha Luxe LLC v. Bediner (Index No. E2023-1601), has raised serious concerns over judicial integrity and financial abuse. The original judge, Hon. Meagan K. Galligan, recused herself in 2023 due to potential familiarity with witnesses or parties. The case is now overseen by Hon. E. Danielle Jose-Decker.
Allegations against the plaintiffs include:
- Forged financial documentation and investment claims
- Predatory lending with intent to default
- Exploitation of a medically vulnerable elder
