watchOS 11 expands health and activity tracking, adds Live Activities

While it didn’t get any of the Apple Intelligence features, watchOS 11 is here, expanding on its health and fitness tracking side. The new Vitals app brings key health-tracking metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen, and sleep tracking at a glance and it will alert you when two or more of these metrics are outside the normal range. You will also get tips on how to improve your condition.

Training Load calculates how hard you’re pushing your body during workouts over a 28-day period with a summarized rating from one to ten for workouts. Activity rings can now be paused for rest days or while rehabbing an injury. You can also alter activity goals for specific periods like days, weeks, or months. Check In is also coming to watchOS so you can alert your loved ones when you safely arrive at your destination. Apple Translate is also making its way to your wrist with over 20 supported languages.

Smart Stack gets new personalization options with the ability to add new widgets including Shazam, Photos, and Distance. You can also get widget suggestions based on time of the day, location and daily routines. Live Activities which premiered on the iPhone 14 Pro series is now making its way to watchOS 11 as part of Smart Stack on supported apps like Uber.

Apple is adding GPS routes and more workout types inside the Workout app. Summarized Notifications powered by Apple Intelligence will be forwarded to your Apple Watch if you have an iPhone 15 Pro or newer. Apple is also bringing the new Tap to Cash feature to Apple Watch.

Apple is releasing the watchOS 11 developer beta today, followed by a public beta in July, and the final release which is scheduled to arrive in the fall.
